Te Ara Tourism is the brainchild conceived out of the restless idea, that, without question, the area of Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty, has so much more to offer to its visitors than being a mere gateway to attractions outside of our region.

Te Awanui Trail

Scintillating harbour views at the start of the cycle trail coupled with an educational if not entertaining recount of life for Tangata whenua (the Maori people of Aotearoa) most of trail will leave you coming back for more. Includes light refreshments at the Cider Factorie or Nourish Café.

Te Awanui ki Tai

Take in the sights and wonders of the Te Awanui (Tauranga) harbour. Cruise around Motuhoa, drift into Hunters creek. If you are lucky you may see pods of orca, dolphin or even stingrays. Tours leave from Omokoroa, Salisbury Wharf, Mount Maunganui or The Strand, Tauranga. Please call us for more details. Cruise accommodates maximum 15 people.

Te Awa o Wairoa

Learn local history on the water, get wet and reintroduce yourself to your core! Guided tour takes in the stunning beauty along the banks of the Wairoa river coupled with local narrative of the histories of the people of Tauranga Moana.

A three hour historical and cultural heritage tour includes history of Tauranga as seen through the lens of tangata whenua (people of the land), harbour cruise and eBike trail. Light refreshments are provided at local restaurant and cellar door, The Cider Factorie.
